Angry Help I Cant Record

Hey guys.

I just bought a new computer and im trying to do some at home recordings. Ive tried 3 preograms (Ableton, Soundbooth and Audition) and i seem to be having a major problem..

Ill record my first track (say guitars) and then when i go to record an overdub or 2nd track over the first one, All it does is record what i played on my first track.
Ive been struggling with this for weeks and need some help.
Im running Realtek HD for my soundcard

Answers??? please

You need to go to your sound card mixer and mute stereo mix when you record the next track. Otherwise you will be recording anything that goes to your speakers along with what you are trying to record.

As MetalDave was discussing it sounds like you may not have a full-duplex soundcard. When possible, I ALWAYS recommend using a real deal audio interface designed for home recording. Check out our Home Recording Soundcard Wizard.
