Default Headphones, cheap stuff

We have a pair of AKG K44s ($18), and are maybe looking to step up in quality, as much as $50 or so. Any good suggestions? I know I should just step up to Sennheisers HD280's, but money is tight. This will be used for tracking, and also a just to see what it sounds like on final mix over headphones. Nothing critical. Are the Audio Technica's ok?

I've been using the $60 Audio Technica headphones for years. They work great.

About one year ago I bought some of the Behringer jobs that come standard with 1/4" adapters. EVERYONE LOVES THEM!! I think it's because they are silver.

I get compliments on them all the time. The best part is they are about $20. I'll buy more someday just to make sure I always have them. People love the colors. I wouldn't recommend them for mixing necessarily, but I never recommend headphones for mixing.

I have a set of K44's that I use around the house....not bad for the money.

i use these things ;D

they are the best i have around for the money and rock pretty solid every time i put them on... also the guy that sells them really knows his stuff around the web, if he tells you something about how a mic works.... you can bet the farm its true.

I use the HD280's and LOVE them. quite amazing headphones, great isolations, and descent bass response. Great for the drummer for sure. But yeah, a little pricey.
