Default Guitar Rig 3 delay effect won't go away. Please help!

So I'm using Guitar Rig 3 in Windows XP with a Soundblaster Audigy 2 Soundcard on a Dell Dimension P4 PC. When I play my guitar, sing into my mic, or input any audio into the program, there is a delay effect (The sound is delayed by about .5 seconds before it comes out of my speakers). No matter how many components I toggle, I can't seem to get this to go away. I feel like the answer will be very simple and make me say "duh." Perhaps it is a soundcard issue. Could someone please help?

Also, is it possible to hook up a MIDI pedal for use with this program? The loop feature is awesome and I want to be able to use it in a live setting with my laptop. Has anyone had any experience doing this?

Thank you in advance! I appreciate your help.

JJ, it sounds to me like your problem is not an effect at all. It's what is called "latency." In a nutshell, latency is the natural delay time between input and output of a device chain. Basically, it takes time for that signal to travel from your guitar strings' vibrating, be converted to electrical energy by your guitars' pickups, be converted from electrical energy to 1s and 0s by your soundcard/audio interface, be processed by Guitar Rig, reconverted from 1s and 0s to an electrical signal, and finally converted to vibrations in the air by the speakers. How long does that take? Well, in your case about .5 sec! The good news is there are things you can do to fix this. First, I would say adjust your buffer size. The lower the better. If that doesn't fix it, check to see that you have the most up to date drivers for your soundcard (the Guitar Rig one; it has it's own built in soundcard it uses).

Check if your soundcard uses ASIO. If it does, you can adjust the latency time to suit you. If you dont have ASIO drivers, check with the manufacturer if they are available. If not, you'll need to get a proper audio interface that supports near 0 latency.

Thank you guys!

Your help is much appreciated. I changed to AISO and the latency is now down to 0. This has solved the problem. Now the only problem is finding a pedal for the loop function. I suppose I'll start a new threat for that question....

Check ebay or Native Instruments website.
