Default Getting started

Just stating to mess around with some home recording and had a quick question. I already own a Peavey 24 channel mixer that i got a good deal on and it has a usb output for recording.

I was going to install Traction 3 software since i have worked with it some and was wondering will the peavey board (since it has usb out) work as an input device or will I need something else. My computer is a fairly new gateway dual core with plenty of ram.

Thanks for any help

The mixer will work as an interface to get audio files on your computer. You will probably need the software to do so, if you bought it used, look up the website for the free driver software, every equipment is different.

But, more than likely, it's going to record a single stereo track. So if you mic a drum set with all 24 mics, you will not be able to set any individual mic levels after the stereo track is recorded. So if recording more than 1 mic, make sure the levels are set by the faders before you record.

I was wondering about how it would record . You say it will probably record as a single track . I have heard another person online say that . I was wanting to be able to record separate tracks . A friend has a mackie mixer with firewire with the same software and is able to actually record separate tracks onto the computer .

I would like anyones opinion on this .

Thanks

Before we start the speculation game, lets find out exactly what model mixer it is. You may have hit the jackpot and have the ability to record 24 simulatenous tracks.
