Hi all,

I'm looking into the Firepod 24/96 (Buy PreSonus FIREPOD 24-bit/96k FireWire Recording System at Musician's Friend) and am wondering about a few things.

I'm most likely going to get a laptop to dedicate almost solely to recording. My questions:

1) Is a 4-pin firewire connection on the laptop suitable (assuming all other specs on the computer are good)?

2) I already have a tube preamp I'm pretty happy with. Is the send/return situation acceptable with this unit?

I'm sure I'll be wondering about other things soon, but any help for now would be greatly appreciated!

6-pin Firewire connections are used to power audio intefaces and other gear. However, I'd guess that the Firepod requires a separate power supply anyway.

Now, you should look into the chipset your Firewire connection uses and make sure that it is friendly with the Firepod. It may not be.

I'm not sure what you are asking. Can you rephrase the question?
