Default D.I. out problem on Bass amp

My Apologies if thias isnt in the correct spot

a few weeks ago i was mixing for live band
When i plugged in the bass amp [through the DI out on the bass amp to my mixer] i got a lot of noise and very little/no actual "bass" sound.

the noise sounded as thouhg there was too much power

the amps di has its own level control as well and it was down quite low

do you think this could be a problem with the bass amps D.I out or soemthing else.

anny help/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. if thing thread is under the wrong topic can someone give me a link to the right place

Thanks

You'd have to do some troubleshooting. Obviously something is screwed up. It could be fixed by something simple like changing out a cable or flipping a ground lift. It could be a problem with the amp itself, the electricity in the building, the environment the cable was ran through, a messed up channel on the board, etc.

so basicaly it could be anything!
i havnt had a chance to play around with it but i think im recording the band that uses that bass amp in the upcoming weeks/months so will have time then

i was also thinking i would try running it through a DI box to see if that got rid of the noise im hearing.

ill play around and get back to yyou
