Cubase Quickstart help

Received all my equipment and installed Cubase LE. And now the confusion has set in.

Before I go in depth reading the manual, I want to test the mics and board. Any tips on how I can quickly get sound from the mixer into the computer through Cubase?

Cubase has a quick start guide. There is a chapter on hooking everything up. I would at least read that. If not, you will always be lost.
