mrn_89 is on a distinguished road
Default Cracks, pops, CPU usage errors, etc

Im running M Powered Pro Tools with the M audio firewire solo. Im pretty new with all of this sort of thing but im learning. So the main problem is the dreaded cracksand pops in the recordings, and even when playing mp3s through the monitors that are hooked up to the interface. Ive been trying to figure out all the buffer size, and sample rate stuff but id like some input to confirm my thinking. Could the power wires be too close to my audio cables? Should i re route them farther away if possible? and what sort of settings should i be looking at as far as buffer size and sample rates?

My Computer stats are

Mobile Intel Pentium 4 518 Processor
(Clock speed 2.8Ghz, Front Side Bus 533Mhz)
1gb RAM
80 Gb Hard drive (external also)

M Powered protools, firewire solo interface, with bx5a monitors

HELP!
