The bitch of it is..since she converted from a personal page..to a band..there is a glitch in the system so she is not rankable nor searchable as a friend..but we figured might as well leave it and hope they fix it as opposed to going through the hassle of starting over and trying to change URL and all that stuff.
So hope it gets fixed.

I've read about the infamous 13 layer lead vocal which seams to be very popular on modern choruses in this style. The layers are panned throughout the spectrum and are kept quite low. I read an article about some engineer / producer called "The Matrix" and he's done this with most of the divas.

The company who signed her asked for all the files and plans to remix and master the song...she is not rerecording it though.
This weekend she will be recording two new songs with her old producer including one original she collaborated on and one he wrote and so we are excited about that!
(Especially excited that mom is not the one trying to record on her mbox)

Next up we are trying to get her final pictures back etc ..so trying to pull it all together.

This is such a great bunch of supportive people! Thank you all so much for your wonderful help and being so darn nice!

Up next is getting the final pics back after edits.(we have some but not all) Recording two new songs. Redoing Myspace site so its more upbeat. They are redoing her website when they get her pics. And pulling it all together.
We are really enjoying the process and it will be interesting to see where it leads!

Love that myspace..but its sooooo frustrating. She might get a few hundred hits on her songs per day (at least she was before the play count stopped working) but now the play counter is not working and so maybe for each 20 or so that listen to her..she gets 1 hit.
It appears to be broken only on some artists..

Very true Nogear..so its so cool she is getting so many views and she keeps all her clothes on! I mean you have to admit she is wearing all her clothes and yeah she might have a cute shape, but its not like she is throwing it in your face.

As far as music filling her heart and soul..well believe me it always has.

Thanks Snoopy, I took those new pictures after school so she would have a little variety. The white fur ones are gorgeous but they make her look older and the brown tee ones are perfect but we wanted some variety. I am glad you like them. We were so surprised that in less than a day she got as many photo comments on each of them than she did on some of the others that have been up longer! And yes Nogear..she keeps her clothes on with just a tiny bit of skin which is how many kids these days dress.

So far since being a band on myspace (about 1 month now) she has been approached by a number of different musicians to collaborate with, a company who wants her to sing on an animated film and she was just approached by an an Indie label the other day. And some relative of a huge country singer who is starting his own company..(not sure why he would approach Jessica as she is not country)
So we have to see who is real and who is not.

The talent scout who signed her to the management company quit the company (I wont go into details but suffice to say that Jessica quit also for same reasons) and asked Jessica to go with her..so Jessica is debating.

She really wants to find a good manager, so thats her next step.

You certainly can add her pic to your myspace..She has 3 banners you can choose from to add to your myspace! lol

As far as music goes..she really loves all types of music except I would have to say country (though of course she respects it). For singing..she knows she wants pop/rock and I actually had to hire a vocal coach to help her get rid of some of the training.

As far as myspace goes..its pretty cool the reaction she is getting but myspace is SOOOOO frustrating. She is not searchable as a band since she converted..we can handle that..but the worst thing is the play counter will register ONE play when she has actually had 20 or so. We can tell from profile views and comments etc that lots of people are visiting..but it doesn't show up on her counter.

So it will show one listen and its actually been 20 or more.

Its really frustrating..! Any ideas on how to fix appreciated.

Meantime..visit her myspace and add her to your friends. BTW DACH..whats your myspace addy or does she already have you as a friend.

Myspace is awesome and totally sucks.

I mean that Myspace is an enormous tool for getting your music heard (I'm still waiting to hear about people who have actually sold records from contacts they met on Myspace, though). However, Myspace from a coding perspective is total junk. That damn site never works properly.

For a company that brought in $28,000,000 in 2004 (and doubled in 2005), you'd think they could hire a few tech guys to fix it.


My advice is to not put all your eggs in one basket. If you added your daughters profile (and link to her site) on a new site everyday, you'd be surprised how much exposure she'd be getting!

I like your idea of adding her profile to a site everyday..now what types of sites did you have in mind? .and considering how screwed up the myspace counter is, would you use that link or the link to her website. I like the myspace more as its more interesting site ..Her website is pretty plain...but its hosted through broadjam and we have not much flexibility there.

I really dont want to join a bunch of song sites and uploade her music..we have found that most of them have very few views and are a pain in butt.

BTW do you have the Alexa toolbar installed? It tells you the ranking of your site..its pretty cool. You are at 301.960..

I'm not big on Alexa. It's way too inaccurate. My day job is ranking sites in search engines, so I'm pretty knowledgable on that front. This site, still being an infant, is not going to rank well for a while. However, I have plans of changing all of that, slowly.

I would NEVER send anyone to my Myspace site. Why? Too many distractions. For example. If I'm selling, a golf club, I want people to go to my golf club site. I dont' want them to go to this Walmart type website which sells my golf club along with 50,000 other products. In other words, I think of a site as being a funnel that leads to a "buy" page. Now, not every site is selling something. However, you do have motives for putting the site up there. Use your site to meet your goals. Just keep in mind that Myspace is worth doing, but is far from the "tunnel" idea. It's too easy to click out of it.

Unless you have big bucks, you'll have to do what most musicians do.... convert one person at a time. I would put my music up EVERYWHERE. I'd spend lots and lots of time doing it and I wouldn't regret it a bit. The trick here is to make sure that you are linking back to your site with the desired keywords. You are right, you are not going to get a smash hit from one little music site. However, I think if you add to one site per day, in the course of a few months, you'd be surprised. That's my opinion anyway.

Then again, you could just hire a lawyer and manager and get right down to big business.
