Default Can't Get Device to Record

Hey, I just the Tapco link.usb for Christmas and can't get it to work.

Running on a PC laptop: 512ram, AMD Processor, Turion 64 moble. Compaq Presario.

I installed the Tracktion software and drivers, and it seems to be running fine, but I can't record anything and the audio sounds all messed up. If I play one of the sample files, it sounds totally distorted. I have a set of regular headphones plugged into a 1/4'' converter so I can plug my earphones into the device.

Also, I have a audio Technica AT2020 condensor microphone plugged into the back input. I turn the phantom power on, and make sure to have the device selected and ready to record with the software, but I can't record anything. I have also tried to plug in my guitar, and it won't record either. I have pressed the guitar button on the front panel also since my instrument is going directly into the tapco usb device, but still nothing. The guitar records into my laptop soundcard, so I know it works.

Any help?

Hey thanks,

So I followed the manual. I discovered that when playing other audio through W Media Player, it plays through my headphones connected to the Tapco usb.link, and it sounds fine. But once inside the software program everything sounds like crap.

I tried to use CoolPRo edit 2 to see if that worked, but still no recording. Not sure how to make it work with coolpro anyway. I checked the input/output devices, and they all seem right --Tapco usb. Nothing is going to my laptop soundcard. I checked sound devices and made sure Tapco was selected for everything.

Any help?
