Default Audio Editing With Cubase

Is it possible to take the attack of a note and shift it backwards or forwards without changing the timing of the rest of the take that follows? I'd like to move the beginning of the note backwards but keep the ending of the note in the same place.

Hey there,

Yeah it is. In cubase 4 anyway. What version you using. Just get into the audio editor, split the start and end of the note, (with snap off), select that event. Right click (toolbox) and choose the arrow with the little clock (should be 3 options- keep choosing arrow till it appears) and move the start of the event. Go to cubase.com for a really good cubase forum.

Cheers.

Hi Scribe,

Thanks for the reply. I'm using SX3. I assume you mean the sample editor? I don't know how to open the audio editor. How do you split the start and end of the note? Once you've made the edit, how do you apply it so it plays back in the project window?

hey there,
double click on the event that contains the note you want to edit. With the scissor tool cut at the start and end of the note with snap off, this way you can fine tune the start and end of the new event. Edit the note as per my other post. Once you have the note sounding the way you want it move it to where you want it to be, again with snap off. Hope this helps. Should explain it in the cubase 'help' files. ............... Cheers

Thanks mate - - with SX3 you can only use the scissor tool in the project window - then I opened the sample editor to move the note
