Default Akai EIE Pro Drawing Too Much USB Power?

Hey guys, I just bought a brand new Akai EIE pro that I'm using with pro-tools 9 and OS 10.7.4 Lion on my iMac. I installed the driver that came with it, but when I plug it in to the computer I got the error message "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled." I tried it with my Macbook running the same OS and got the same message. Is this a problem with the hardware, or is there something I can tweak on my computer?

    It doesn't have an adapter?

I think you can use a powered hub to supply more power.
I never finish a mix, just abandon it.

The unit does come with a dc adapter, and should be used.

Macs do have a problem with usb ports not supplying usb 2.0 power specs.

Ya, you have to keep track of USB power consumption on any particular port

Thanks for the reply guys, but it was an issue with the hardware. I took it back to GC to replace it and the new one works with no problem.

Let us know how you like the Akai EIE.

You might want to post a review of the gear sometime in the future.
