Adding a sub... I/O Question

What all do you need?

the sub will go with my yamaha hs50m's

just for listening purposes..

but i have 2 outputs on mysoundcard, would i need 3?? and do i need cables to go from each speaker to the sub?

Usually, the sub has all the connections - you hook the sub up to your system, and then hook your satellites (main speakers) to the sub's output.

You'd only need to connect them separately if you were doing surround mixing in which you'd want a separate sub channel with complete mix control of.

ok so my monitors would no longer be connected directly to the soundcard but instead the sub?
