Hi everyone, I'm a brand new user here, hoping to find some solution for my problem. I'm running a E-MU 1616m with a 1010 PCI card. My PC is a relatively new (4 month old) PC with a Q9450 quad-core CPU, 8 gigs of RAM, running XP 64. I'm running Audition 3.0, and when everything is working right, I'm 110% thrilled with the recorded results from the 1616m. However, what I'm not so thrilled with is the crashes. I've had blue screen crashes ever since I installed and started using the 1616m. Through lots of trial and error, I have worked out the problem to being the E-MU ASIO drivers. If I have an ASIO strip in my PatchMix mixer, regardless of whether or not I have an ASIO application at the other end of it, and I have sounds playing through the 1616m, eventually it will bluescreen my PC. It normally happens when it starts or finishes playing a sound, NEVER in the middle of a sound. It doesn't matter if the sound is coming from the ASIO app (in this case, Audition) or from a WAV strip in PatchMix (i.e. a Windows system sound). If the ASIO strip is in the mixer, eventually a crash will happen. Now that said, if I remove the ASIO strip from the PatchMix, and leave just a WAV strip (i.e. for system sounds), it will run for weeks with no problem. But I can put the ASIO strip back in, and be guaranteed of a blue screen within hours. When I analyze the crash dump file, it shows that the cause of the crash is the driver "ha10kx2k.sys". It shows: BugCheck D1, {0, a, 0, fffffadf8d83b49c} Caused by : ha10kx2k.sys ( ha10kx2k+a749c ) Not surprisingly, this driver is the hardware abstraction layer driver for the 1010 card. Needless to say, this makes it extremely frustrating to work in Audition, where everything goes through ASIO, and requires the ASIO strip. Extensive work with E-MU technical support has been of no help whatsoever. They insist there is nothing wrong with their ASIO driver, and that it must be something on my end. Has anyone encountered this problem? SOMEONE must be having a similar problem - there must be SOMEONE using a 1616m under XP64 utilizing ASIO drivers. I'd appreciate any thoughts or ideas - I'm really at my wits end with this. |

wow...thank god im not the only one we are experiencing.... THE EXACT same problem im runing the 0404....but using the same software as you patchmix/adobe audition on windows xp64....and i get that damn blue screen i wasnt getting it last year...but i recently formatted my hard drive and started over again...and now i get it...using the new drivers i can confirm that this problem does not exist with the old patchmix and drivers....just this new 2.0/2.1 bullshit |

I never did find a solution for this. I spent weeks and weeks back and forth with E-Mu support, who remained as unhelpful as ever. They continued to insist that there was no problem with their drivers, and that the problem was due to some software I was using - despite the fact that it would crash even if the ONLY software I was running was their PatchMix application! Finally they suggested the solution was to reformat my PC and reinstall everything from scratch. This despite the fact that this WAS a fresh install on a freshly reformatted PC. I gave up, and just live with the blue screens. I also let them know that this will be the last E-Mu product I purchase. |

ok guys, As an E-mu 1212m user same 1010 card all of you have, i have to tell you that audition is the only software as far as i know that have problems with emu gears, for some reasons, and they said this at the compatiblity chart in Proteus x if i remember, they did some recomendations there to try to fix this problems, but i recomends all of you to change your DAW Audition because it gives a lot of problems, probably this software do not suport EMU ASIO driver, just this, i been using my 1212m in cubase SX3 and it never crash. Not true. If I have an ASIO strip in my E-Mu PatchMix application, my PC will blue screen, even if Audition is not loaded. I can have Patchmix sitting with an ASIO strip in it, and NO OTHER SOFTWARE running, and within a couple hours, my PC will bluescreen. As long as I don't have an ASIO strip in Patchmix, my PC is rock solid. The bug has to do with the ASIO driver implementation or in Patchmix itself, not Audition. E-Mu insists it's not their problem, so I'm stuck. I doubt they'll be issuing a fix for something they don't admit to being their problem.

oh, ok that is worth man? i dont really have any problem in that meaning, my system does run perfect, it is probably because i have two pc´s one just for the daw and the other for any stuff i have apart music production, so be carefull to reserve all resources, all OS resources, and all machine arround just for DAW because it will give you the best performance you want.

those customer service guys told me to make sure i have sp1 installed on vista lmao wtf is that gonna do?? when my shit blue screens there is no confusion it tells me outright its because of the soundcard....check your sound card drivers this shit is an e-mu problem because they are too fuckin cheap to have their drivers windows digitally signed.... (extensive testing) and instead just wanna rlease their shit and say fuck it. im also almost 100% certain its a x64 bit problem....because we always get the bad end of the stick....damn shame |

ok i rum my emu sistem on winXP 32 bit, just for music purpose is this machine, i don have any crash, no blue screen, or anything else, probably those drivers are not 64 bit or anything else, but i recomend you to download the last driver update from emu, probably you will ffix your problem, and remember just use your music pc for daw purpose not for every stuff you have to do, or you will have any problem i have experience that, DAW programs are PC eater.
