Question Track Won't Playback From Cursor Position

I left clicked a track in the arrangement view & the flashing red line appears with a red arrow above in the scrub area but when I press the Space Bar, the arrangement starts from the beginning even though the track is playing from another position, why?

Ha! I've been having the same problem and the fix so far is to use the sift key to start it from where the cursor is, stupid, I know. Anyway, I can't figure out how to move the cursor (red line) back now so I can relisten to what I changed. Any ideas would be appreciated. Oh, apparently people use the arrangement view and not the session view but I can't figure out how to edit my midi drum track in the arrangement view. I really wanted to use this software but if there is no way to do this basi stuff, I'm screwed and won't be able to use it.

The learning curve in Live is steep but well worth it. All of this software, be it Live or Cubase or Sonar is highly complex and will require patience. I was once where you are now, struggling to make it work, but I have Since recorded two commercial CD projects and numerous other projects in Live and the results are fabulous.

Dynamata, not sure why you're having that problem. It may be a glitch in that one track. I have one project that is the same way, all the others work fine (in that I left click, set the red line, and tap the spacebar. The track plays right where I want it to). Try moving your midi/and samples to a new track.

mkmonkey, I do all that basic stuff in Live in the arrangement view. To reset the red line, left click in any track, and the red line will appear where you clicked. To edit midi in the arrangement view, double click on the midi clip and it will appear in a window below that can be expanded as needed.

There are ways to do all the basic stuff, and more. Live is a unique program that works from a non linear way of thinking. I highly suggest you go through all of the lessons that come with live, and then watch some tutorials (search in youtube or look on Ableton's site). It is just different than what you are used to. You can give up on it, but like Cailyn said, all software takes some time to learn. I am just scratching the surface of it now.

Dynamata, are you clicking on the actual track, not in the scrub area?

Looks like it was a glitch, I clicked in the scrub area with the speaker icon & playback started from that point (it wouldn't before) then it was Ok. Then again I might have been clicking in the wrong place, I think you have to open up the track & click in there.
