Default Fade Out

Can anyone tell me how to fade out the end of song? Also individual tracks such as a guitar solo? Is is this possible within Ableton?

Thanks

You'll need to write some volume automation. It should be in the book.

Does it have something to do with envelopes and using draw mode sounds like a steep learning curve. I better start reading or does anyone know an easier way.

Very easy but you need to learn how to automate functions in Live.

For a full track fade out, go to the master track in the arrangement view and click on the volume level. This will bring up a red line in the master track. Double click at the point where you want the fade to start. Then double click where you want the fade out to end, perhaps ten seconds later. Drag this breakpoint down until it reaches infinity dB. You have a fade out.

You can do the same within any single track if you want to fade a guitar. Every function in Live can be automated like this. Spend some time and learn how to do this.

If you're using live 8, in arrangement view, you can right click on the clip that you want to fade out, and click on "show fades." Now you can just drag the dot in the top right of the clip to the left or down as far as you need to for the right amount of fade.
