Default eliminating delay in midi signals coming for synthesizer...?

Is there a setting in Ableton 7 , where you can eliminate or lessen the delay when playing midi notes on my Motif keyboard?
I'm connecting my Motif to my laptop through usb.
thanks!

What are you using to monitor your keyboard? Live is optimized to work with ASIO drivers. If you're using an onboard soundcard, the latency will be noticeable. You can go to Preferences>Audio and adjust the Driver Error Compensation. Also reduce the output buffers as low as possible.

thanks, it worked like a charm by reducing the output buffers to 928.
Turning off "local on" in the motif also helped.
I need to get myself a usb audio interface because i don't have a "line in" in my laptop, so i'm recording everything as midi tracks, then freezing the midi tracks and moving them to audio tracks , then exporting as wav...
Seems to be working fine, but the only limitation is that i can't use the Presets drum sounds in the motif, because Ableton is not recognizing the signals from the motif drum sample.
that's why i need to record as audio.
I'm looking for some free Vst drum set that is as "Acoustic" as it gets.
Maybe that would help for now, till i get a usb audio interface..
Any recommendations??
thanks man, your help has been always on the money)

Thanks, glad that worked out. I use a firewire interface so I am not sure what works best in USB2 but you might try here as a place to start:

Audio Interface Wizard

I personally have had good luck with the M-Audio stuff.
