Default Best option for using cymbal samples

I have a bunch of cymbal samples i would like to use as midi instruments along with the drum sets the come with live but i dont like the way it sounds when I drag them into impulse. I havent done a lot of work in this area so if anyone has ideas, I need them step by step.

Thanks, Collin

Can you describe what is it that you don't like about impulse? And also you could always use drum rack instead.

When I drag samples into impulse it makes them really short and dead sounding. The only thing I really is good cymbal sounds because I like the drum kits that come with ableton.

I've never been able to find realistic cymbal samples. Maybe it's just me, but I can't get them to work right with the kit.

I don't know it this is the problem, but when you hit a note on your keyboard or pad or whatever to play the sample, make sure you hold the note for the whole duration of the sample. Say your cymbal .wav lasts 10 seconds, if you want to hear the whole 10 seconds, you have to hold the note for 10 seconds. If you hold it for 5 seconds, as soon as you let go of the note, it will stop playing the sample.
