I started working on a new project today. My grandmother is celebrating her 80th birthday, and I was asked to do a video retrospective of history versus her life. Before Ableton, I would have probably done something in Powerpoint and just synced in some music. Because of the arranger view in Ableton, I divided the work up into scenes, with each scene playing music from the year that is in view. My nephew and I will record some riffs that will back comments from family members. I'm sure this is possible with other software, but the fact that I can so easily choose multiple options for each scene and listen to them real time. I'm not suggesting that this is a replacement product for whay you currently use. I am suggesting that Ableton Live makes your current DAW better. |

Outline the track or master track area that you want to render to disc by highlighting it. Click on FILE in the upper left. Click on Export Audio/Video. On the next menu, render the file as a 16-bit .wav file. You need burning software to burn the resulting .wav file to a disc. You cannot burn directly from Live.

Ableton does not make any add-on programs to burn discs. The two best programs are Nero (which I use but is fairly expensive for casual use) and Roxio, though you may be able to find freeware or shareware that does the same thing at download.com. Any program that will burn an audio CD will convert the wav file from Live to red book audio playable in any CD player. My grandmother did a lot for me, it was the least I could do.

Actually, for simple burning tasks, either one will work fine. I use the full version of Nero because I want complete control over the burning process, especially burn speed, and burn verification. For burning high quality recordings, use the slowest speed available, which is 4x in Nero. I need the ability to add IRSC numbers to my discs which you generally only need if you're selling downloads.
