Default Ableton Live 7

I noticed that you don't have an Ableton thread. Is it not a popular or good recording program that's what I've been using for about a month. I am new to recording and Ableton it's the program that came with my hardware so that's why I decided to use it. Any information to help with the learning curve would be appreciated.

Thanks

The only reason I don't have an Ableton forum is due to the fact that there hasn't been much demand for it. I guess it wouldn't hurt anything to go ahead and add it.

Okay. Done.

Thank you! Can anyone tell me how to remove an effect after you have added it to a track and decided you it's not what you wanted. Adding it was easy I just went to the browser and dragged and dropped, but I can figure out how to remove it without having to close out the set and reopening.

Thanks

Glad you suggested the Ableton forum and had the idea accepted. I am an avid user of Live, starting originally with Live 4. I now use Live 7 Suite which is a fabulous program.

As for your question, if you've dragged an effect from the browser to the bottom of the screen, you can do two things. If you click on the green circle on the top left side of the effect, that will turn it off. If you right click on the top bar of the effect, a menu will appear and delete is one of the options.

Glad I could help. I'll keep an eye on this forum and help out when I can.

I suggest when time permits that you visit this page and check out all the movies: Ableton - Movies

Some great stuff there to help you learn how to manipulate Live to do what you want.

Thank you! I was wondering what are my limitation's with Live 7 Lite and as a beginner should go ahead and invest in the full version or get my feet wet first with Lite. The recordings I've done are a miked up acoustic and vocals I've added some effects such compression and reverb. I tried to create my own beats but that needs some work. Over all it didn't take me long to start recording but now whats the next step.

I'm not as familiar with Live 7 Lite but I believe the main limitations are the number of audio and midi tracks (12 of each) available. Until you get into more complex recording, the Lite version should be more than adequate. I recorded my first pieces in Live Lite 4 which only allowed 4 audio and 4 midi tracks. Don't upgrade until you know the program better and have a need for more features would be my advice.

Where do I go to find a drum loop something to jam to? Do I drag it to audio track or midi?

There should be some beats in the clip section of the browser. You drag the clip to a midi track but you also have to install an instrument to play the beats. A midi clip in an empty track will not make any sound. In Live Lite, you should be able to set up something using Impulse which has acoustic and electronic drum sounds. You need to assign the beats in the clip to specific drums or percussion items. There is a pretty steep learning curve here.
