Default Steven Slate / Superior Drummer 2.0 / Kitcore / DFHS

I don't know if I'd call this one a "shootout". All I did was take a MIDI drum part from Toontracks Easyplayer and run it through all sorts of the various sounds in Steven Slate Drum Samples, Superior Drummer 2.0, Kitcore, and DFH Superior.

Oh yeah, just for fun I included the Steinberg LM-7 because someone was seriously debating whether to use the LM-7 or EZ Drummer. (For those who don't know, LM-7 does a killer Ton Loc drum sound which is like a broken 808.)

I did nothing to the sound other than render it. A few of them in Kitcore got too loud so I had to pull back on the volume fader, but that was it.

You probably won't learn anything from this one, but anyone interested in drum samples can get an idea of what these products sound like without any tweaking.

It does need to be said that all of these samples can be routed so that you can compress, eq, or whatever processing you do to individual tracks and therefor the tones can be changes quite dramatically.

Yea the funny thing is all the Toon Tracks/ DFH superior drum stuff has very similar kick drum eq's and samples. I think I can pick most of them out.The Steven Slate stuff is totally foreign to me also but I hear there great sounding. The Kitcore stuff I'm not at all familiar so I think I know which ones there are because of the suck factor I heard on there site. Opps sorry if that was offensive... I never had the old DFH stuff before EZ drummer so I may be off on some aspects of that. Its great to hear all these side by side.

That's part of the rules of the shootout. The answers need to be available for the shootout to be entered in the contest.

Some people want to wait a week or whatever to read the answers (and they still can) but I don't see the value of this personally. I want to listen, learn a lesson or 10, and move on.

Well hell then I guess you set a heck of a precedent then huh.
Just joking. I get it now. It's the instant gratification thing. No wondering or going back and forth with the subject, just here it is. But you know the average joe will tend to go right for the answers, I guess that's ok too because they will still going to be learning something, right? Ok I need to think on this for a day or so. Hmmm shoot out...

Brandon, By the way, it take quite a bit for all these individual files to load on the page for people to be posting and reposting and have to wait for all this to load. Is there another way to group multiple files together so it will load the page faster. Just a thought. Maybe my 3 meg dsl speed is just sucking.

Here's the problem.

When I made the rules, I never expected to have 50 streaming files on the page. Once you hit play on one it has to load in it's entirety. For this one here, I probably should have just zipped up the whole damn mp3 folder so people could download it.

The only problem is I want to set an example of what I'm looking for with each shooutout. It appears my standard is wrong.

....wait a minute. I'm the Supreme Overlord Command! I'm making an amendment!

I wouldn't call it that. I can't remember what I ate for lunch yesterday and I certainly can't remember what files in a shootout sounded like a week ago. Maybe it gets people coming back, but I think delaying the answers gets in the way of the actual lessons learned.

Done. I've added an amendment where if a person has more than 10 files in their shootout, they should just zip them up like I did here.

I just meant by instant gratification that people wouldn't have to wait or a week or so for the answers. I get what you mean. Yes and your right I don't think many will post 60+ files for the shootout. I could be wrong though.
