Runner's Up - SPL Transient Designer Plugin

The original hardware version of the Transient Designer is one of the most innovative audio tools to come out this decade. It's received numerous award nominations and is something you see in just about any big studio that mixes on an analog console.

I was excited when I heard that SPL was going to release a plugin version for VST!

I will be reviewing the SPL Transient Designer soon (along with the SPL Ranger Series Eqs) so I'll keep this section brief. Let's just say that it's a killer tool. Here's what it does:

The top 3 runners up in the Recording Gear Shootout will receive the Transient Designer Plugin. There are 2 catches.

  • The plugins are NFR. This means that you can not sell the plugins. You get the full blown version, but you don't get the rights to sell it.
  • Second, these plugins require an Ilock for security. They will not work without an Ilock.
