Default Untitled Metal / Hardcore Track (Now With Vocals)

I just recently formed a band with a couple of great dudes. We created this track in the space of about 3 hours. There was no EQ'ing done to any of the guitars or drums. Our drummer plus DAW genius doesn't like over EQ'ing things and prefers to capture good sound at the source.

Anyway... This is an untitled song we created. Let me know what you think. The song is going to be completed hopefully this weekend with vocals and ending guitar etc.

The guitar was recorded straight into the PC through a pre amplifier. What you're hearing is a guitar played through an amp simulator on the computer. I think it sounds pretty good. It's a Jackson King V KVX10, and it's the stock pick-ups that come with it.

Pieced together in Reaper. The drums are samples that our drummer recorded in his studio from his own drum kit. He couldn't use his kit because this was done in an apartment, so he dragged in samples instead.

I also recorded bass guitar for this the same way as the guitar, and using a bass amp simulator on the PC.

This is going to be like an intro track for an EP, the quiet to high volume at the start makes it perfect for that.

What do you think?

Update #2 - See my reply down the page with a revised version containing vocals and revised instrument parts.

I think it sounds a lil like the intro to "An Ocean Between Us" by As I Lay Dying... but still... the drums sound really good for being sound bites.

Haha. Funny you say that, I just listened to the song and noticed it does sound similar. I guess it being in Drop C and all (like this song), it's a compliment nonetheless, I love AILD.

Yeah, I'm shocked how good the drums sound for recorded samples and all. They're pretty effective, for our EP of course the drums will be recorded live from a mic'd up kit.

Thanks man. Yeah, it'll probably be tweaked a little to make the rhythm pop a bit more, but it's a few hours progress so far, still got a bit of work to do on it.

ya know i just listened to it "again" sounds like ezdrummer to me the guitars are way to loud.the intros to low as far as contrast between seperation from intro 1 or intro 2 .sounds a little like s.o.a.d.in the beginning.i dont know if its me but, metal songs just keep using the same drums sounds.thats just me i have a hard time finding a lot of "variation" with metal.and im sure the vocals are gonna be brutal screaming, with an alexisonfire type singing somewhere.i still like it cuz i love metal.but,i dont know when you remix it if you do make sure the drummers there.

The song has been revised again. There are now some vocals, singing and a breakdown in it.

It's still very much a work in progress.

PS. I am aware of the hiss in the song. I think it's one of the instruments causing it.
