 surf/rock/reggae instrumental
wrote/recorded this last night, working on vocal melody now for it. would love some help with the rhythm guitar. it's ok but i cant get that exact sound i'm looking for for this style.

are you going for a caribean type feel?if you are the guitar is throwing it off. I see where your trying to go with it but it needs that caribean punchy feel to take it there.maybe another instrument is needed to bring it together, i have to listen to it at home to hear it all better.

song sounds great so far, i think whats throwing it off is the guitar rhythm pattern. its on the wrong beat. what ya need to do is play the chord variation at a higher octave with a little reggae funk rhythm patterns, brighten the sound, and adjust the volume accordingly. Also a subtle organ/piano in the back could replace or just accent the guitar.

First of all i like the feel of the piece. I'm getting into reggae/surf/dub territory for the first time myself. I yes brighten the guitar-bright and thin works for this rhythm style...think single coil pickups. Also...the main guitar melody line-i'd work on the rhythm-seems a little off. Cool idea keep working it... Brad. p.s. i'll be posting my latest tune up now. |
