Default I woke up dreaming this one about 6 months ago

I woke up dreaming this tune about 6 months ago, I think of it as my Sunday theme music. The drums need a live drummer and I am not the best bass player. But here it is, give it a hard SMACK!!! Going for a retro sound with modern feel.

Very tasty playing, nice tone too... There's not much I would pick on about this - It's very straightforward & simple but for what it is it sounds great. Yeah, the drums could definitely do with some souping up, but they are adequately servicing the idea here... What are you using for them? There are so many quite realistic, inexpensive drum VSTi s out there at the moment, I'm sure if you got a hold of one of them, you would be able to create a great drum track by stringing together the supplied preset midi sequences & personalizing them a bit. Actually, a company called Groove Monkey specialize in putting out heaps of different midi drum sequences to suit many different VSTi s. All of them are played by real drummers & unquantized, apparently. They include fills, intros, even whole songs in heaps of different styles, & they are pretty cheap to buy.
The other aspect of this track that you need to look at is creating "atmosphere". At present it is almost completly dry & devoid of any sense of "space". Music is never made in a vacuum, & there is plenty of space to play with in this piece. Imagine a room or space where you would like the tune to sit, then use reverb & delay, convolution etc. to create that space in & around your instruments. I enjoyed the track - well done.

When I tell people at work (or my wife) that I woke up hearing an arragement in my head they are somewhat bemused. I'm glad that someone else has the same "problem." I think it starts out great and I absolutely love the gutar tone. I agree with the "space" comment above. If you want to leave it as a kind of improve-jam that's fine. If you're looking to get more of a composition out of it, I would state an identifiable theme at the begining, improvise your heart out, then restate the theme before ending.

Thank you for the listen and well thought out critique. I think there is some things in here that I may have to seriously look at. Thanks!

Yeah, I think I may have to take this one back into the shop and re-tool it a bit. Thank you for the listen and critique, I appreciate it.
