Default Hi with an impro

Hello from Vancouver, BC!

I am really glad I came upon this message board -- it seems there is a ton of information and I will have to spend some time reading:-) I hope to be able to learn more about the whole recording process, and hopefully make some new friends!

I have been humming tunes as long as I remember, but recently I've decided to set up a small recording home studio and play, just for fun. Of course, I'd love to hear some of my stuff recorded professionally, as right now it is... quite rough:-)

Anyway, here is one impro recorded for less than 40 min. I am using Sound Forge to capture and mix the audio... not quite happy with the sound, but that's all I have right now.

Ah, although I am not a drummer, I just bought an ION electronic drum set, which I plan to use it instead of a drum machine...

As I said, it is all for the fun of creating and playing music.

Welcome to the forum! Nice moody soundy improv you've got here... Guitar sound needs a bit of work - it's a bit thin & buzzy - a pedal sent direct?

... hang around the forum & you'll get the next best thing - in time, you'll find your recordings will improve to the point where they will sound professionally recorded.

Thanks, fHumble!

Yes, the guitar needs work... Not only the guitar, though:-)

I am using a Fender Stratocaster through a Roland Cube 20X amplifier feed to the computer, and using Sound Forge to capture the sound....I am not sure if the problem is with the sound card (built in the motherboard)... may be I need a dedicated one, but I've noticed it sounds much better when I play it live through the amp... When I record it on the computer it's all flat and without dimension...

...Which might be a good thing, if it's intentional:-)

You might want to check out this if you're interested in a specialized sound card - I'd definitely recommend it... Audio Interface Wizard

Also, with the amp - try miking that little sucker up - It will inevitably sound better than the DI.
