Cool im glad you think that the tone is good. Im fighting between some amps that i have. Seems that the one that is the most expensive and comes with the most hype sounds the worst. Im trying to understand this dilemma. Thanks for the bash.

| Right on, i wasnt too concerned about that jumbled mess of a guitar solo, but i did like the melody of the notes at the beginning of the solo so im glad you mentioned something. Its funny i thought that part was good so it just goes to show you how opinions vary.

I had a thing with amps last year, tried everything, settled on a DSL, still sounded fizzy and crappy stock, stuck a V30 in it and played it in, can't see me using anything else now. |

Well my main amp is a boogie tri axis / simulclass 290/ boogie cabs. But that clip is a line 6 pod through a rocktron head, boogie cabs. I also like the tri axis pre amp through the rocktron better than through the boogie amp(simulclass 290)

Will, this is a killer song idea man....right up my alley! Dug the riff and the playing quite a bit. That guitar sound struck me as a little odd when it first fired up....could use a little more mids to my ears anywhere from 600hz-800hz by a few dB. BUT...huge "BUT", the tone grew on me after about 20 seconds or so and works well with the tune. Lead tone seemed a little w a r m e r which I dig because I like when lead tones are a little creamier sounding so they don't bite as much. What do you think of your Tri-Axis? I have one here with the 2:90 as well. The Tri-Axis is pretty useless to me live due to the slow algorithym changes in the patches. You experience any glitches/delays when you change patches? Like the sound dies for half a second? Because of that, my Tri-Axis never leaves the studio. Any issues with your power amp? I have 2 of the 2:90's and man, they've been in the shop more times than anything. They sound killer when they work...but are sort of wishy washy on my end. I've been using the Rocktron Velocity 300 and 250 series...which are power tube simulated. They work great and have never given me an ounce of trouble. As a matter of fact, when I A/B them with the Mesa's, the only differences I can tell are I smell the tube on the Mesa's and sound wise, there is no difference at all unless I crank the Mesa's so loud, the hair on my arms stands and moves in time. LOL! I've got a really killer pre-amp so I don't need much of that " tube output power" sound...the Rocktrons handle me just fine without the break-downs I get from the Mesa's. Anyway, really good idea going on here dude. I'd like to hear you polish it up and finish it with all the right stuff. I know you probably just did this as a quickie to test some stuff out, but it was pretty good from what I can tell. Re-record those drums using a few more mics and get a little more separation so the kit is panned a bit more and this is gonna kill! Totally love it...thanks for sharing! Thanks for the kind words Dan. My intentions were to go balls to the wall for a bashing clip at some point. When i put up a clip(soon) that ive tried my all on, i think then ill be able to ask you(and the forum) some smarter questions, and get some of my issues sorted out. The Velocity 250 is also the amp i run Dano. My 2/90 / triaxis just sounds so horrible to me anymore.Bright and too much midrange. You think when you pay that kind of money for a rig one should drool. I really dig the tri axis with the 250. Way more than the 2/90. But again very midrangey too bright and not much low end on the V250 at all. Go figure.Struck me as odd when you said there was no dif in sound coz my 250 sounds or sounded at one point gooood. If you dont mind counselling me a bit ill post some clips of all my set ups before next sunday. If there are any tips i need to know to get the fairest comparison result please feel free to chime in. I know my post is a bit scattered here and im sorry if there is any confusion. Try to do too much at once. I bash yr clip when i find it. Last edited by willjrockstar; 10-12-2009 at 12:25 AM. |

short and sweet answer: I feel like the guitar tone/ playing is very tight, but its just a bit too bright for my taste. I absolutely love the bass. The snare seems to have too much of a pop and not enough meat around the edges - but I'm no drum king (I use ezdrummer ) Other than that, good song, I enjoyed listening.
