Re: Black Cloud rough recording
I'm currently recording a blues album that is going to have this same feel. You say it's a rough recording. I think it's spot on for this style. It's needs to be a little dirty! It's a good performance. Now, I would ( i'm not you so keep that in mind ) take some of the highs off the acoustic guitar. Maybe even record it agin with an old cheap guitar. Imagine being in an old general store and playing in the back corner kind of sound. The lead riffs are sweet. I would ( here we go again LOL ) give if some grit and attitude. A little gain distortion and Let the low freqs breathe. It sounded better after about 1:30ish. The claps and shaker are a little to loud for me. The first hand clap made me blink. Great idea though, I liked it. They seem to be pushing the tempo to hard though. Maybe have them drag a touch ( just a touch not too far ) and take the highs of a little. A LP at around 8k. I think it would sound good if the claps and shake, even the snaps sounded like your were in the band and they were the crowd. There, but about 10 feet away. I Liked this song great vocals for this. I critique because I like! Nice Job!
Ok I listened to it again while I was writting this. I like the sound of the acoustic it's just too bright. Maybe different strings?
