I would say either bring up the drums or bring down the guitar, it seems the guitar is over powering the mix.maybe hang the hi hat to the right a little to bring it out(thats my own personal preference).

It might be the cheesy computer speakers I'm listening through... and this is all personal taste... so here goes. I could hear the crisp, snappy snare very clearly, but I could not make out a distinctive bass drum. Also the bass in general seems to be obscured by the wash of distortion going on in the lowere frequencies. Again, it's just my taste, but I like a nice distinctive "thumpy" bass drum. While the snare cuts through, it seems out of character with the feel of the rest of the instruments. You may have done this intentionally (juxtaposing the "heavy" guitar against the high pitched snare), but IMO the pitch of the snare could be brought down maybe a third to a fifth. But, overall these are minor adjustments, please post the finished product when you're done.

It is not your speakers, I shoot for very obscure sounds, alot of times fulfilling some weird obsession mashing things together, but I let it get away from my inexperienced hands and by that time I am in over my head with noise that sounds like what it is... CRAP... At this point though instead of stopping and gathering my wits (probably should grab some knowledge too) I PUSH FOWARD ,damning it all to a pathetic mess...wrap a bow around it and shamelessly put it in public view( the AUDACITY!). I may not get acceptance this way but I sure am gaining alot of experience from it (the hard way)...but when I put vocals to it ,I will invite the bass drum to the party...oh there is no bass guitar on this, was too lazy to write midi. Thank you for your input and time.

I dont really get this one. Sounds like noise shadows the whole song. Srry. Though i like yr idea about shooting for obscure sounds.music is to the point where id rather write or listen to something i hate other than the same old poop. Zat make any sense?

I don’t understand what you are trying to do with this, but here’s a few pointers: - I would start by treating one instrument at the time. Mute all the tracks, except for the drums. Then eq, add effects, change levels, etc until you have a balanced drum sound. In this case, I can barely hear the kick drum, the snare sounds like a 1990 cheap drum machine and the cymbals / hi hat aren’t realistic either. - After having a good drum sound, raise the volume of the guitar until the point where it blends nicely. In this mix, the guitar(s) it’s way too loud. |
