Default Frank Walsh - Snow Angel

Here is my non-denomination ode to the holiday season.

Music and lyrics by me, Frank Walsh. Vocals by Diana C. and me.

Recorded at home on Sonar 8PE. All instruments except the acoustic guitar are soft synths (Session Drummer and Dimension).

Happy holidays!

The whole recording is very tinny. I've got a feeling this was done with some kind of "mastering application". I have to turn it down so it doesn't hurt.

Otherwise, great job!

I wrote a song by the same name. It's cool to hear a different take stemming from the same idea. I agree with the tinniness, otherwise, great classic song, well performed. Listen to mine below...

Keep on it!! I dig!

I agree, it is pretty tinny.

The song was mixed so that every part (guitar, bass, drums, vocal, harmonies) was patched to its own bus. I then mixed the buses to get the sound 'just right' and then bounced that mix to a stereo track. The resultant mixdown does not sound much like what I hear when I just play the buses. I don't know why.

I have fiddled around with this problem and actually have a less-tinny version now. This was accomplished by simply bouncing all the tracks to mixdown (skipping past the buses). This version sounds much better even though I would have predicted that it wouldn't.

My understanding is that it is too late to post the improved version. But if you advise that it is not too late, perhaps I could remove the current version and upload the improved version.

Thank you so very much for your comments. I am totally new to recording using DAW software and all criticism and advice is truly appreciated.
