Default Broddie's last minute entry: I Won't Ruin Christmas

An original song is the spirit of Frank, Dean and Sammy. Too bad I can't play piano over all the changes, cause this song really demands it.

Hard to sing with all them pseudo-modulations, but I gave it my best. Still haven't' mastered the tube preamp, but this is acceptable. Remember that this is an original song just finished this morning.

Vote early, Vote often, because I believe that this is a contender.

Lyrics:

I promise you this Christmas will be different my dear
I promise not to roll my eyes or grimace or sneer
If the children still believe that reindeer can fly
I guess I could try
To not be such an asshole

I promise I won't get so mad I start every fight
I promise not to get too drunk....
After tonight

So sleep well pretty woman you've got nothing to fear
I won't ruin Christmas for the Children this year

I promise that I'll wrap each gift with thought and with love
I promise I won't curse the very heavens above
When the car refuses to start
we'll get the horse and the cart
kick it oldschool with a sleigh ride

I promise I won't run away and head for the hills
When the party's over
And we're buried in bills

So sleep well pretty woman you've got nothing to fear
I won't ruin Christmas for the Children this year

We've have much worse times
When we didn't have a penny to spare
So here's to some good life
With what little we have we can share

Someday when the kids are gone we'll look back and laugh
We'll look back like we're looking at an old photograph

The life we know could vanish; It could all disappear
So I won't ruin Chrismas for the Children this year

I won't ruin christmas for the children this year.

Good stuff. It really needs a bass, though.

yes. absolutely. My problem was that the song structure and lyrics weren't complete until yesterday morning.
It also needs better drumming--I had to get something done in time for the contest so I threw down a stock "jazz" loop, and didn't have time to edit it.
When I do it over (if I do it over), it's going to be with a real jazz combo including piano. It will be at a slightly slower tempo so it doesn't sound rushed.

Oh, I didn't miss anything in the chordal department. But once you throw in a drum, you really need a bass.

Victor.
