It sounds cool, like the intro to a movie that Tim Burton directed. except for the bass part that comes it @ (1:40)

It's not bad. the only thing I can suggest is trying to use more high quality sounds.
I know the Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 came out a while back. Maybe using some newer sounds with the same sequences would add some more "live" punch to the whole thing.

pablo,
Thank you for listening & responding! This is not one of my newest songs, but decided to go public with it at this time because I got written up in a company newspaper that gets mailed to about 1,600 fellow employees & figured I better put one of my mellower songs towards the top. I agree that I could probably redo at least some of the keyboards with my Korg TR-Rack (which generally sounds a lot better than the Sound Canvas) for a better overall sound. Maybe someday I will. In the meantime, I would rather work on a new song (I usually finish about 12 songs a year). Thanks again!

A couple of things about this. It's great that you can put a track together. I have trouble getting a few bars down. But this feels a little hollow and unfinished.

1. Firstly, I think it needs speeding up. What is it - 110bpm? It needs to be at least 130bpm.

2. I suspect that the instruments / quality sound very midi-ish / 1990s. I'm not sure how long you've had that software, but better quality everything will make this better.

3. I think it's too long. You could lop a minute off this easily. The second bit (1:40 on) sounds as if it's actually a second song.

4. I don't know about showing this off at this early stage. When people don't like stuff, they'd rather keep mum about it and not say anything. I guess that's what this forum is. Nobody understands "work in progress" and they'll hear it only the once.

These are just opinions obviously. But I hope they are of some help.

objectman,
Thank you for listening & responding! It may not sound like it, but I probably spent about 50 hours on this song. I agree that I could make it sound better with a newer synth (which I now currently own), but I have already spent so much time on it, I currently feel like working on something new; but perhaps someday I will redo it with a newer synth. I can see where you might say the current tempo is a bit slow, but I vaguely remember trying different sequencer tempos (yep, it's entirely sequenced), & this seemed to sound the best to my ears. I could see where you might think it's too long. I agree that it could be improved.
