Sounds like it has been heavily gated, especially on the release. I am not that hot on the use of noise gates but if you post in the Audio engineering section, I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction. It could be that the snare used in the song you mentioned was a sample. You may be able to find it somewhere. Hope this helps  |

use this synth .the snare sounds on there are very similar,easy to use E-Phonic - VST Plugins good luck

sounds like a bog standard snare sample gated and heavily compressed maybe some EQ applied. Try a gated reverb for effect. Compress always last. For free samples also try the freesound project(freesound.org) |
