I guess w arm would be as opposed to cold or hot? The only time I think it should be used is when you are talking about *arming up your amp or mic?

yes I think your on to something drago.
In the old days the pros always used nothing but the very best. like stiking a mic into a tin can to simulate reverb or actually recording in a bathroom. Lets not forget the ulta expensive tape machines that made rock and roll possible on 45's.

I think real pros always check out the new and cheaper and see what works and what does not. create new sounds and then set the new pro standards. If Brandon can get good sounds out of something you consider less than good equipement I have to ask " who is the real Pro"?

Brandon appears to be a gentleman. I'll continue to read his input. Yours is going into ignore list. Ignorance should be ignored.

Maybe not, but I do have a lot of respect for him.

Maybe banning w@rm is a little over the top, but let the guy do what he's gotta do.

In my opinion, Brandon doesn't try to come across as such either. He appears to be someone who wants to show folks that they can do some good things sonically with decent equipment and good technique. He also seems to want to honestly help people. He also questions not only what other folks are doing, but his own techniques and the reasoning behind them.
This is what I see from him.

I myself, have yet to hear or see that from you though. I do see a lot of posts by you that seem to be made without a whole lot of thought. I see a lot of negative bullshit as well. That makes you the god of thoughtlessness, in my book. Go you, Drago.

See, other folks can tell you how shit is just as well as you seem to think you can, bud....

I applaud fmw on his putting you on ignore. I'll choose to see what you have to say to defend your obvious youth and lack of forethought because I always like a good laugh. I'm just built that way.

I really like our Blue Baby Bottle for male vocals. Our female singer sounds just lovely with a CAD VSM tube mic. It performs really well with female vocalists and some males. It has a great look but lacks the brand appeal of upper end mics. So when no one's looking, use this one.

Shure SM-7 is another great performer... particularly if your singer knows how to use the big proximity effect on that mic.

If we want "hype" we go to the old AT-4030. It gives extreme articulation, but can sound sibilant.

The important thing is to have a variety of mics as well as preamps. I'd rather have 3-4 "value" priced mics than one single expensive one; and the same goes for pres.

Our "reasonably" priced mic locker consists of a couple of 57's and one 58; a Shure SM-7; a CAD-VSM tube mic; and the BLUE baby bottle. Our pre's consist of a Grace 101, an LA-610, an older joemeek VC-1. None of these are $3,000 pieces of equipment, but the combination gives us great flexibility in the studio.
