For plugin I use the Dicord by Audio Damage.
Audio Damage :: Discord v2

For $50 it's pretty good and quite tweakable but but for thickness it doesn't hold a candle to the pitch detune effect on my Lexicon MPX 110 (hardware).

Waves ultra pitch is pretty good if your going for Plugins. I know TC electronics makes some great hardware harmonizers (TC ELECTRONIC QUINTET VOCAL HARMONIZER). I prefer just singing all the parts.

Harmonizers can be a lot of fun on things other than vocals. I love doing split harmonizer stunts like:

1. take a guitar whammy dive that's panned up the middle
2. run it to a stereo harmonizer with both channels panned up the middle
3. as the guitar dives in pitch automate the two harmonized parts out to the left and right.

You get a dive bomb that "blossoms" into a nice stereo spread. It actually works better if you use it on a slide or bend up.

Hey sparqee can you post that idea so everyone can really hear what your saying.Maybe do a little audio clip as an example. I don't think its as clear in just a description . Man an auido clip would be COOL!!!

Sure. This is a fairly subtle example. You can make it more over the top by lengthening the delay between each channel of the harmonizer but that tends to skew the stereo spread. It's also a good idea to check the effect in mono. If you're using this on your glory note and it disappears in mono (due to phase cancellation) it's a real bummer. Of course there are fewer and fewer instances of mono playback systems but... I once had a client check one of my works on his cell phone. <cringe> Ever since then I've always checked for mono compatibility.

Cool that sounds nice.
And like you said you can take it to what ever extremes you want with the spread and maybe longer delay times with more feedback.
