Hmm. I've never even heard of Antress. I just assumed you spelled Anteras wrong.

I must admit that I'm just a little skeptical of free plugins that look like Neve EQs, but I'll give them a shot!

Are they heavy on the CPU?

His stuff is widely discussed in the Reaper and KVM forums, which is how I found it. I believe he's out of Taiwan, and there's been some speculation that there may be some reverse engineering of other plugs involved...

I haven't tried the Neve yet. Since I used a 1073 on our last record, so I'll have a pretty good idea of how accurate that is. I don't know how accurate the 1176 is, but I definitely like it better than anything else I have for vox.

Medium. The EQs not so much, the comps can be pretty heavy, depending on settings - but isn't that always true?

Wow! These are really good. Noticeably "more musical" than my Waves stuff.

None of the compressors go faster than 5ms, unfortunately. I needed to CRUSH a room mic for a certain mix and not one of their compressors could do it without a loud POP busting through on all the attacks. Bummer! I figured at least one of those compressors would be fast enough. Oh well. I used my Waves C1 for that.

I managed to overload my Athlon 64 2800 with about 10 instances of their plugins. (I'm not exactly sure which plugins I was using). So these do use quite a bit more juice than the Waves stuff.

In fact, these may have just inspired me to get a Focusrite Liquid Mix and be done with it.

The comps definitely do eat some CPU. I find myself using the 1176 on bass, then rendering the track, for example. I can do a little "touch up" compression with one that isn't so intensive if it needs it, or I can always re-render the track. I also find myself using it on the lead vox, and then bussing all my backing vox together on one instance of the comp to save CPU...

Then again, I'm not working in a "for pay" environment, so I can screw around with stuff like that.

I've got to figure that he'll start charging at some point - they're just too good, and they have to be time-intensive...
