http://www.studiobuddy.com/ <---not a plugin, but its free...and a lot of it is outdated, but a lot is still revelant to todays technology. Just is they talk about going to tape, and then will say if you are using tape blah blah.

Right now it's the SSL bundle, however I still really like messing around with Ozone.

Anyone know of good DirectX plugins for use in Cool Edit Pro? Is it correct that you can't use VSTs with CEP?

Thanks,
Ho'okani

I'm not sure how it would work for your material, but the Classic Master Limiter works great for me.

For PT i THINK it's under 'Plug-In Settings' in the Digidesign folder. Look for the folder with a bunch of other plugins in it

They're VST plugins. Can ProTools handle them? Does it have a VST wrapper? If so, look in your documentation. I didn't think even PT7 could do VSTi's without a wrapper.

I couldn't find the plugin setting in the digidesign folder. and i actually thing that PT le only handles RTAS. but what is a wrapper and can i get it to work with it? If i can't, then does anyone know of any sites that i can get some free RTAS plugins at?

VST wrapper for PT 7...
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/VSTRTASWrap/

Free RTAS? Is there such a thing? You should know right now that owning ProTools is not cheap. Forget the initial expense, it's making it do everything you need it to that is costly. This is why I discourage everyone from using ProTools. It's good software, or at least it is for audio work, but the cost of ownership doesn't end when you buy it.

Ha. Wow. Thanks. Now i know why the industry hypes up PT so much. well, i guess its good that you pointed it out for me now or else i would have spent a heck of a lot of time wondering what the heck was wrong with my computer. I really need to take some time and ask you guys whats up before i ever buy another piece of software or equipment. thanks again.
