...just noticed that posting from Acme Bar Gig/'Johnny McFly.' Speaking of great ampsims, the stuff from Acmebargig is great. I yet employ the Compact Distortion here and there as a 'notch filter on steroids,' but for great guitar tone, the Acmebargig is among the very best.

WOW! Thanks Mr. Blitz...That is an awesome endoursement. We will be releasing 2 new heads very shortly and then that will be it for a little while from me. But ABG has 2 new developers now and they will be picking up where I leave off. I have to dedicate some time to a huge internal ABG project and will not be able to creating any public release plugs for a while.

Rob Rokken will be creating some EQ's Guitar FX pedals, and some other stuff, and Winnie Conway will be creating a range of Synths. These will all be released as freeware, so, Look for that stuff in the very near future..

Once again Thanks for the compliment

KM

I have tested and tryed what seems to be every frr vst out there lol. This is my setup of free stuff and what its used for. This combo has worked awsome.
For EQ during mixing and subtle mastering that I do, I use PARIS VST EQ Version 1.1.
For compression on the individual tracks I use Block Fish.
For limiting final mixes I use Classic Master Limiter by Kjaerhus Audio.
For compression of the final mixes during subtle mastering I use endorphin
dual-band stereo / m/s compressor VST plugin.
For de-essing I use spit fish.
For gating I use GVST Gate and sometimes for vocals use Floor Fish for smoother bleed through of silences or gasps before the vocalist punches in.
For delay I use Classic Delay by Kjaerhus Audio.
For reverb I use Glaceverb.
And to thicken up and get that good full feel for guitars and vocals I use Voxengo Stereo Touch. These produce the best results for what I do in my little home studio. I have been trying to get the George Yohng's W1 limiter to work. I use to have it. Now when I download it from anywhere and input it, it is missing the gui or it simply crashes. That was an awsome limiter. It wil be missed.

That looks pretty cool; a single-note drum sampler which is triggered by audio level (threshold).

Agreed that Bootsy's stuff is top-notch.

Johnny, I employed the C-15 with LePou Cabinet on a track today; sounds phreaking great! The only thing is, on that track the guitar is secondary so it's not the featured instrument. But during the tweaking of the brain/cab whilst having a guitar in 'solo mode' on the 'console,' it was obvious that this C-15/LePou combination totally rocks!

The previous track, with a prominent guitar line; also employed C-15.

On another of today's, employed the Gimme Head/LePou, 'front-ended' by the 808 Distortion from RobRokken.

I'm gonna be using these Acme heads for the foreseeable future.

There are these moments, while messing with the controls, loading-unloading IRs from the cabsim, trying to find that sweet spot; then it happens and it's like, 'man, that sounds like an amp recorded by a mic; or almost; or even better; but man, whatever it is, it sounds really good!'

Thanks Mr Blitz..
There is a technology in these Preampus METAL heads called Blast. What blast does is fluctuate the signal very rapid. It allows for you to have these amps at a lower volume in the mix and also aids in eliminating to some degree, washout.

We have 2 Tweaker heads coming, one called G-SPOT which is the upgrade to DIG. and FrankenAMP, which is all the components of the Preampus line in one head. You can select the components to use yourself. So between these 2 heads you should be able to completely craft your own sound. They go way beyond turning simple bass mid and treble knobs to actually defining the heads internal components. G-SPOT you can set the gain stage up, like tube max drive, character and even tube bias. where in FrankenAMP you have no access to this, you simply make a choice for what Gain stage to use, the one from knuckle head, meat head, series 60, etc. So between the two, FrankenAMP is a lot easier to use, but as expected a little more limited than G-SPOT.

Either way, I don't think anything anywhere is currently available for free like these 2 heads. In terms of tweaking that is...
