Exactly. The value of a free plugin is automatically better than Waves... if you have to have an expensive plugin, then obviously you don't need to waste time with freebies.

I would love to find the be-all, end-all plug in package for vocal processing, including comps, verbs and pitch shifting/harmony generating/correction software.

I am struggling with a song that is too high for my voice. I lowered the key a step in Cubase - did the vocal and then brought it back up. The result was noticeably Chipmunk. I sounded like Geddy Lee, but not in a cool way. Of course I could just leave it down a key and record all my guitar parts in that key too, but I really notice when a song deviates from its original key, and depending on the song, I'm not always a fan. It really can alter the sonic character of the song.

Sing REALLY low then... my solution for singing at church is aim for two octaves below the girls who lead the singing up front. I can't possibly get caught out with high notes then!

Does Waves cost money?

I think that helps a lot of discussion here. ( why sure waves cost money) thats why you make friends who have it on disk yah-----------acoustic
