I'm starting to record live music with midi and noticed that no mater how hard the artist tried the timing is never right. Is there a plugin that corrects this problem? (correcting real sound timming not midi) I've seen it in other studios and I heard that its a costly plug in but what is it and is there free or cheaper version? Thanks Premier |

I'm using PT 7.3 (I know I know I use it cause everyone that I had associated with used it) I just cant remember the plug ins name. I know its out there and it not only adjusted for real instrument timing drift but also fixed vocal timing as well. I think it may be the Multitrack Beat Detective rhythm analysis and correction tool. Buy Digidesign Music Production Toolkit online at Musician's Friend But I'm just not sure. Does any one know?? So much toys to chose from AHHHHHHHH. |

Music Production Toolkit? I wonder what kind of editing features it adds. Besides the plugins, it sounds like stuff that Cubase has by default. Brandon |

ya, it's probably beat detective. With Pro Tools 7.4 you get Elastic Audio, which will stretch the time to fit with the tempo. It sounds PRETTY good, but since it is altering the sound (unlike beat detective which just chops up and moves around) I think theres gotta be some sound degredation. Beat Detective works like a charm with drums. But with bass, guitars or vocals, you're better off recording bar by bar if you have to Haha, for like $500 the Music Production kit basically JUST adds multi-track Beat Detective and 16 more mono OR stereo tracks |

I read that the hit song by The Darkness "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" was actually sped up after it was mixed by something in Pro Tools. I was amazed to find out that an entire audio track was sped up but still retained enough quality to sound good enough to be a hit. I wonder what they used. Brandon |

Thanks for the Info. My Artist is new to recording (and I guess the concept of time). I dont really want to Quantize the track due to that wierd timing. My solution right now is to give her the drum track and have her practice to that. I cant afford that Producer tool kit so I just hope she can learn to keep on time. This is her song and her time she is paying for but at the same time I dont want to send her off with a F*#ked up recording. Ill look around for the plug in but if I cant find it it'll be ok (I hope) Premier Last edited by Premier; 12-10-2007 at 03:58 PM. |
