Hello All,
This is my first post on here, so bear with me.
I purchased this unit on ebay for $280 new a few months ago and am slowly putting everything together. I had major latency problems with mine at first but found out it was a computer hardware issue. Here goes the lengthy explanation.
I am using a Dell xps m1210 which is a bad little laptop, so why was my latency so high? I heard the wierd noises that were in one of the posts also and could not adjust the driver past the high latency setting or it would stop working in cubase. After hours of banging my head on the wall I called dell to tell them something was wrong with my machine. 3 hours later and a call back and we figured out that it was the DVD burner of all things, they sent me a new one and it works on the lowest latency setting with no dropouts.

A handy little tool i found can check your machine for latency problems it is here DPC Latency Checker forgive me if this has already been posted before. A few things to remember also, disable wireless or network cards these also seem to cause problems.

I will be hopefully recording my band tomorrow with 12 tracks so this will be the first real world test. One more thing, I found some sweet microphone splitters they are called EWI MST-412's, they have one direct out and 2 iso xlr outs per channel. Most importantly they're only $100 a piece, very handy for live use.

Well hope I didnt put you all to sleep.

Later,
Tony

Darn forgot something! The knob on the right just below the monitor knob allows you to mix between whats coming thru your computer and what is plugged into the interface. Although the volumes are a little on the low side.

Hey ppl, first time on this forum.
I think I want to get the tascam us1641, i've been looking for a decent 8ch budget preamp for a while now.
But i'm trying to find out if this is compatible with protools, any of you using it with PT, or know if it works with it???

I know Protools stuff only works with digidesign, but i mean like as an extension.

Thumbs up Re: Tascam US-1641 USB 2.0 Audio Interface Review

Hello guys.... this is my first post in the forum

I just got my US 1641, and absolutely love it ! sound is great and all the features just awesome. I just have one problem that I hope some of you guys with experience can help me solve:
I connected the digital coaxial output to a sony MDS-B3 recorder, trying to record some of my tunes, but.... I got no signal from the US-1641. If I try the analog connections, theres no problem, I can record easily, with a little noise, but not too bad. I´m sure I can get a lot better quality recording using the digital output, but I just can´t do it. Im sure is because there is something I´m not doing....
Can somebody explain me how to activate the digital output ?
I´m using Nuendo.

Thanks a lot guys !

If I get a headphone amp, will I be able to mix with headphones?

A headphone amp will work great on the Monitor, or either of the main outputs of the tascam. It is how I am running mine. The live-only headphone jack on the front of the TASCAM is my only real complaint with it.

I accidentally plugged the monitor out of the Tascam into an amplifier out. Now the Tascam unit has all its LEDs showing a red light and it doesn't function anymore, know anything to fix it?

That's a tough one. I'd be willing to bet your best optoin is to contact TASCAM and see what their service center would cost or if there is warranty coverage.

Hi guys, I'm new to this site but have recorded in both digital and analog (tape lol) settings before. A couple days ago I decided to go into the whole personal digital recording thing for myself, and bought a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra, which I am unhappy with (CLICKY CLICKY!). I will most likely be returning it to the store this week and want to exchange for a new interface, and the Tascam US-1641 seems to be my best bet. But, I have some questions.
1) Does it run successfully on Vista/ perhaps with service pack 1 too?
2) As you may notice from the avatar, I'm a big NIN-head, and hence, will be doing a lot of solo project stuff with overdubbing..A LOT! Will latency be a problem? and can I listen to what I have already recorded, and record a track simultaneously and successfully (the monitoring discussion threw me off)?
3)Has anyone used this interface with ACID Music Studio 7.0?, its my main program and am too comfortable to give it up. I know this device does the whole ASIO thang, so I know its supported, I just want to know if the combo works well.
Much appreciated!http://forum.recordingreview.com/ima...ies/cheesy.gif
