Yeah, that's what I was wondering too. If you own all this gear, then man, I'm coming over to your house to play! Seriously though, what exactly are you asking? That's a lot of gear to give opinions about.

sorry guys, you r right... actually is a studio already setted up in a school i want to go (i think that you have to pay to go there! ),and since i'm just a beginner, and dunno too much about the hardware, i'd like to know if is good to learn in an audio engineering course with these machines in my hands, and if it will provide me a good experience and knowledge that i can use in other studios... thanx

I am extremely down on the idea of going to Audio Engineering Fantasy Camp as a direct path to work as a recording engineer. LSS, realize there are tens of thousands of guys qualified to to use this equipment at a high level who cannot find work in the vanishing big time recording world. You coming into this cold, without even enough experience to know what these tools are, doesn't bode well for your success. When you're done, it's highly likely that only place you will find work will be Full Compass or Sweetwater or your local GC. In the abstract, yes, these are great tools to learn how to use.

I got excited for a minute. Every post on here is, "I got $50, what can I buy to make my band sound like Nickelback". Or , "Should I buy the Genelec monitor system or a pair of Behringer Truth . . . I ended up getting the Behringers" I thought someone was going to bring to the table a budget over $10,000 and say, what should I buy. That's the world I wanna live in. |

quote: I am extremely down on the idea of going to Audio Engineering Fantasy Camp as a direct path to work as a recording engineer. thanks garageband... yeah, i know i'm playing the fool's part, but i do not really think that going to a sound engineering school will make you a good audio engineer. Personally i always hated schools. Of any kind. Anyway i've been involved in music since i was young, and worked in the enviroment as a laborer, mounting stages and service for hundreds of bands & orchestras here in Italy... Never really had the money to buy equipment, and i never really used it. Yes, i've been in several recording studios, even helped working in the construction of one, and i did the sound for many little live shows in my own town and around for my rap group and for my friends, and i recorded in my best friend garage various people and instruments (strictky lo-fi things) , but in the end all my practice refers to virtual machines or DAW applications like Reasone, Cubase, Logic, along with Garageband and others "fantasies" of course. If i'm going to a school is to learn how to use professional equipment every second i can to make my own and others music sound better (the theory of acustic, and electronic sounds i can learn by myself in many books) and to aquire more english tech terms (since the school course is in english). Plus i will have a paper that, since i love to travel, i will be able to use everywhere in the world to present my individual as a technician and ask for job like a "live sound engineer". I do not expect to work in a kick a°s studio for majors (i hate majors too), and I know that probably with that paper i will clean my a*s but it's is always something more i will have for a chance to prove my skills. And then it's just about attitude, mentality and experience. A LOT of experience. Thanks for your advice but, i suggest, do not be quick to judge, cause not everybody had the chance to work and know everything about the brands and the quality of the hardwares, but they can always learn, and i do not think it will be the hardest part of the game to compare equipments names and models one another to know which of them sounds better, if you do not even understand what better sound means... i did not want to be polemic, but this goes out to everyone who really has the passion and wants to work hard in concrete a skater once told me: if somebody tells you to get out the ramp, just drop in...

What is I think is the salient point is to know what the path ahead looks like and tread lightly. Yes, that's a great pile of gear to learn on. I think it speaks very well of them that they have three ADATs still in service. Those things can break if you walk into the studio with a frown.
