Default Stereo widening with an H3000

Hey Gang,

I have recently run into a bunch of people who are getting massively wide guitar sounds using an eventide H3000. I've been so impressed with their mixes, I'm thinking of buying one of these for this purpose alone.

Has anyone had any experience doing this with one of these units? Is it difficult to do?

Thanks!

Yes I have a eventide H3000 and they sound amazing! There are lots of great guitar effects in them some have the Vai presets.
I want to get another one.
You can find em on ebay for about 1000.00

A lot of people seem to be very happy with them, but I really only want it for one thing, the ability to make seriously wide guitar tracks.

Is that pretty easy to do with the 3000? I'm amazed that they are holding their value as well as they are, especially with eventide having newer models out..

So do you think it's still worth picking up some "outdated" technology such as the 3000?

Thanks!

There is a reason just about every major studio has one or two, they are awesome.
There are some stereo chours effects that are wide and huge like your talking about, I use mine mainly for vocals.
They are easy to use and sound great. If you got the cash it's a good buy for sure.

I'm not sure about the specific models, but when I've been in big studios I'm alway amazed at how fast they can get "the sound" with these Eventide boxes. You CAN get "the sound" with plugins, but it seems like you have to work much harder and much longer.

I can't say how this correlates to guitar widening, necessarily.

I do know that not all wideners are created equal. When you listen to some of the Howard Benson stuff it is obviously widened in a way that a Waves S-1 will not do.
