Default So, the ubiquitous Taxi thread (from a producer's perpective)

I think I noticed Brandon was posting in the Taxi forum and thought he might have joined up. I've considered it seriously on several occasions over the past couple years.

Has anyone here had any kind of success with it? And more specifically, from a producer and cowriter perspective, is it useful?

BTW: I'm not looking for arguments for or against it. It is what it is and I'm not looking for help in making a decision - just interested to know others first hand experiences and thoughts.

Myself, what has always prevented me from doing it is that, after looking at all the listings from the past year or two, it seems like most of the listings in my preferred genre (R&B/soul) seem to be looking for the type that's already out there on the radio. I rarely, if ever, see anyone looking for an original artist or music. Also, I never really liked the idea of the middle man screener thing. I think it sucks. I know why they do it and all, but I still think it may prevent some unique perpectives from being heard. I understand that some people find it useful getting reviewed by others, and for those starting out it can be helpful I suppose. But, I am not really looking for that. I'm looking for a way to get people who need original music to hear mine!

With that said, I took a look at some of the listings at Songlink and thought they would be more useful, however they only give you a small glimpse of their listings, and they are more expensive. If anyone has experience with them I would love to hear it also.

I'd been meaning to write an article about Taxi. I'm glad you reminded me. Here's the article:
