Default Room mics and Overhead mics

If you look at like the EZ Drummer mixer or another software mixer for that matter, you will see two channels representing Room and OH.

Now I think the OH means like two or more mics positioned somewhere above the whole drum kit to capture everything?

But what is Room? Is that just one mic positioned far away from the drum kit that is also designed to capture everything plus a lot of room ambience?

It certainly doesn't have to be far away from the kit, but it often is. The room mic is designed to pick up quite a bit of ambiance to create space.

Agreed. Maybe some thought should be given to restructuring the ranking system?

I dont think its fair to assume that just because someone who has posted a certain amount of posts and is ranked as a senior member cannot ask questions.
The senior member status does not imply that person is all knowing; it only means he has contributed a certain amount to the forums.

I'm glad there is a certain subliminal bit of clout given to people with high post counts. It makes it look as if I've made more than three recordings in my life when you see almost 18,000 posts.

Well said. In fact, I find the senior members tend to ask the most exciting questions....typically. Maybe this one is not-so-senior, but so what! (We all have little bits of seemingly obvious stuff we know nothing about...I can program php/Mysql databases almost blindfolded but I have to put serious effort into working my girlfriend's cell phone, for example). I'm glad we have guys that hang around here so much and are willing to keep learning.

Have you seen my questions on MIDI OMG. I feel like a child again and not the better part of my youth.
