Reading this thread just pisses me off.... I have not once had a problem with audio-technica, and even talked to their service reps who are extremely helpful. i know this thread is old... but the person who wrote it sounds like they havent once used any type of REAL microphone. I own a Audio-Technica 3035. yea, its cheaper. but it gives me a better sound than almost any of my friends small studio recordings...and they use shure and other brands. From what i have seen, shure microphones arent that amazing either, but comparing the 2, id pick audio technica hands down in more situations than not. old thread, i know. just my 2 cents

I have an Audio Technica 4033 that I have been using in both studio and live settings for over 10 years. It has never caused any problems, or failed in any way. Regardless of brand, I'm gun-shy of mics that use batteries instead of phantom for their power supply. If I remember, the ATM10 was about a $100.00 mic, which doesn't make it inherently bad, but in most cases you get what you pay for. I would never have any reservations about the reliability of any 4000 series AT mics.
