Default Outboard Gear

Hi there,
I was wondering how to process already recorded tracks through rackmount processors and back onto another track. Here is my little setup...
I have a Behringer Eurodesk SL3242FXPRO 32 channel mixer, I have a Lexicon Omega that goes into the computer into Cubase LE. I have two rackmount processors (Antares Vocal Producer AVP-1, and a Lexicon MX200). And I was wanting to know how to take a already recorded track on Cubase LE and run it through these rackmounts and back into Cubase LE onto another track.

I tried to find ways but I just cant seem to make it work. Thanks for any help.

Option-1: In cubase, mute all tracks except the track or tracks you want to run through the rack hardware, and also set up 1 or 2 tracks to record on inputs 1&2 of the Omega. Unplug your monitors and connect the Omega's outputs to the input of your rack gear. Then the outputs of your rack gear to the line-inputs of the Omega. Press record and capture the entire track, leaving extra space on the end if you have reverb or delay. Plug the monitors back in and listen to your "wet" track.

Option 2, Since your Omega has inserts, read the manual on how to plug in your rack hardware and captutre the rack effects while recording.

in order not to consolidate the track, wouldn't he want to set up a stereo aux send to the desired track in cubase so he can change the wet/dry ratio? IMO, option one does not leave much room for on the fly editing.

You may be talking about something I'm not familiar with. With only 1 out from this interface, there's no physical bus out. If you are talking about bleeding wet/dry in Cubase, I figure you could do a 100% wet track like I explained in option 1, and set the volume of the wet track as the wet/dry option.
Is there a different way?

now that i think about it, i may be wrong. i know how to set up TBP's using aux sends on a split monitor console (as you probably know, aux sends allow us to change the wet/dry ratio with the simple movement of a fader). but if you asked me to perform this same with a recording software and a digital audio interface, i'd be completely lost. basically, you best not listen to me lol.

I wouldn't recommend this method because you can't hear your track until you record it. This means you have to guess as to what it sounds like, record it, and then listen. You'd be better off with plugins, for sure! Listening is WAY more important than the difference between hardware and plugins.

I recently set this up with my Distressor. Here's how I did it. In Cubase SX3, I created an external bus which sends the signal out of channel 3 of my Presonus Firestudio. That signal goes to the Distressor input and out into the input channel 3 of the Firestudio. This makes a loop which I can add as a plugin to any track I want. It works very well.

It only works this way because my audio interface has outputs in addition to the outputs used for the stereo output and Cubase SX3 has this external track thing figured out to be very handy. Otherwise, it would be a total nightmare.
