I'm using PODxt Live to record my guitar.
I know that I cant really get 'LIVE' sound by using the POD. But at least I need to get my sound nearest to 'LIVE' sound. Any oppinion? is it by putting the reverb inside the track? |

I use the PODxt. I know what you mean. I have tried different things such as changing the mic models inside the PODxt, turning off the noise gate (not such a great idea), running the pod through an amp with neutral EQ to get the speaker reaction. Through the amp works pretty well. I have tried to make it sound live with different reverbs with various results. I guess what I am saying is try everything.
I almost forgot, One thing that really sounds good is when recording lead parts with a dirty amp sound, double it with a clean. It really thickens it up and adds a little natural chorus.

I don't know what "sounds live" means in this case. Can you attach your mix?

I'd say throw in a class A tube amp at the end of the chain. I had trouble getting good sounds out of a Boss ME-50 processor until I plugged it in the fx return of my Marshall JCM900 and it was like a light and day. I still ended up using the Marshall with OD in front of it for the main distortion sounds.

I was thinking about this thread earlier and my chain before I go into the interface. What I normally do is go into the Podxt and either into one of my tube amps or straight into one of my Tube mic Pre's. I have not decided which I like best yet. Probably the Tube guitar amp to get the mic speaker interaction.

yes, the Marshall is an A/B amp, I should've specified that better.
I meant to say that a class A small tube amp will do wonders to get rid of the digital feel of the DIed sound of a POD. So will an A/B amp, in my case I just used the power section. |
