Question Need help in Connecting Philips SBC 490/03 microphone

Hi,

I am a newbie here and i have a problem regarding connecting my PHILIPS SBC 490/03 Dynamic microphone to my computer.I was told that its a good quality mic but the jack is too big to fit into the provison provided in my realtek soundcard.I think i will need a third party component to connect that mic to my computer. I have added the photograph of that mic for your reference.
Thank you.

You will need a 1/4" female mono to 1/8" male mono adapter.
Link: Hosa GMP 113 Audio Adapter, Mono 1/4" Female to Mono 1/8" Male | Full Compass

Radioshack sells them for a couple of dollars.

I googled the mic, but couldn't find any information on it, probably due to it being 10-12 years old.

It's looks like a low end dynamic mic, probably suitable for basic recording into your realtek sound card.

What instruments are you looking to record ?

I tried googling that mic and didn't come up with anything. Looks pretty old.
As far as being suitable for home recording, if all you require is getting audio to your computer for fun, then you are done and good to go.
Some people spend $3 on an adapter, some people spend $300 on a guitar interface with software, and some people spend $3000 on Firestudios and Digimaxes with enough mics to run a live show. All depends on how far you want to go.

Welcome to our world.
