Default my idea for an easy diffusor.

Does anybody use diffusors for acoustic treatment? are they as effective as absorbers? I was thnking of a way I might make my own diffusor and I thought of buying a bunch of wooden half semi spheres or balls and screwing them into a large wooden pannel and hanging it on my wall. I would make a whole bunch of these panels and hang them all over my wall. This seemed like the easiest method I could think of and considering i don't have that many tools. I was thinking the ideal space would be a round room because there wouldn't be any direct reflections and this was the closest idea I could I come to that. And I would have some Absorbers In the corners to trap bass. What do ya'll think, is this a good idea?

That's like asking asking if the gas pedal is as effective as the break pedal. It doesn't work that way. Absorbers suck up the sound and diffusors scatter the sound by reflecting it.

This has been done many, many times. How it sounds will depend on your particular situation, but this is how I would approach it.

The round room is an interesting concept that I've done some research into. However, it isn't the most practical thing to implement. Unfortunately, hanging stuff on the walls is the best bet.

Unfortunately, this really depends on the room itself and what it needs. Is the sound really live or really dry in the room? It is usually pretty hard to make a room sound larger than it is. I find this works better in plug-ins, or by using a larger better sounding room.

I would say you are on the right track though. These should certainly improve the sound quality in the room.

As far as a round room...seems like a lot of trouble. not sure if it would be worth the effort.

Agreed!

I find that action is the best way to improve. Build your diffusors and see what happens. Depending on what you are looking for, you'll either be happy or you won't. I wish I didn't have to be so vague.

Sort of. When in doubt, do something. Anything. Try the diffusors and see if they give you want you are looking for.
